2020 Events

CIBAC (Toronto) has been allied with various business groups in Hunan Province, China, and has played a driving force for the exchange and interaction with the local Chambers of Commerce. This time, CIBAC and the compatriots in mainland China fought an epidemic prevention and control battle of quickly using our commercial channels to purchase masks. Because of the urgency medical supplies in Hunan Province, taking advantage of the alliance’s networking in Canada, CIBAC purchased 20,000 medical face masks and transported the batch from Canada through China Southern Airlines as quickly as possible to Changsha, Hunan Province. This batch of masks has been donated to Shaoyang County and the County Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has distributed the masks to the medical staff in the frontline.

2019 Events

From August 23 to 26, 2019, CIBAC members attended and participated in the Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo.
The 2019 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo is sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and is organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, and the China Foreign Trade Center.

The 2019 Business Explore & Investment Summit, hosted by the Canadian Municipal Business Gateway (CMBG) and co-organized by CIBAC, was held at the IBM Innovation Space Convergence Centre in June 2019. The summit attracted about two hundred local business enterprises and investors interested in emerging companies.

CIBAC worked with the Business Development Bank and hosted the event on Thursday April 18th 2019 at the BDC Toronto Exchange conference room. The event was sponsored by BDC, the only Canadian bank that is devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs.
This session was focused on women and how to take their businesses to the next level.

In November 2019, CIBAC directors joined 2019 Danube River Trade Expedition to explore and identify business opportunities for members in Europe.
The mission started from the Wine Show in Munich, Germany, followed by the Food Show in Salzburg, Austria. Directors had productive pre-arranged business meetings in Budapest, Hungary and finally B2B collaboration for Healthcare products in Warsaw, Poland.

In October 2019, Chinese Business Investment Alliance of Canada (CIBAC) organized a delegation to the Qingdao International Sister Cities Commodities Fair. There were on-site procurement negotiations with major supermarkets in Qingdao, international trading companies, and cross-border e-commerce activities.

2018 Events

In the summer of 2018, President So of CIBAC with some members of the
Business Association visited Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. Qingdao has a developed economy and is the third largest municipality in China’s northern
cities after Beijing and Tianjin. Qingdao is a port city of skyscrapers. Apart from its well-known Tsingtao Beer, it is also one of the most livable city in China, and one of the best China’s eight international conference cities.

By the invitation of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, President of CIBAC, Mr. So and his delegation went to Hong Kong to participate in the 2018 Asian Financial Forum in January 2018. The delegation was also invited to the welcome reception hosted by Mr. Jeff Nankivell, the Canadian Consul General for Hong Kong and Macau. Subsequently, the delegation went to Changsha to follow up on the process of negotiation projects by the two parties during their 2017 visit to Changsha.

The Chinese Investment and Business Alliance of Canada visited Changsha, China in the fall of 2018. Through this visit, the directors and members of CIBAC have established many friends and developed relationship with local dealers, suppliers, logistics and related government departments to create and cultivate a better understanding of the recent development of China’s business and consumer market.

CIBAC invited an international trade expert to speak on the topic of international trade. The speaker, Mr. T.O. Lee, presented the topic on use of L/C in Import and Export trade; and discussed the use of L/C as a trusted way of payment guarantee for the movement of international goods. As an experienced trade advisor, he also presented the difficulties encountered in L/C trade, and what he has personally encountered cases in the world of L/C frauds.

President of CIBAC and Victory Rise Enterprise Ltd. with Mr. Wayne Welter, Managing Director of Commercium Group Ltd ., accompanied by Liu Lihong, Vice Chairman of Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce, and colleagues visited Hunan 39th Tea Store Industry Co., Ltd. to discuss international trade cooperation.

2017 Events

Through a solid preparation work, in September 2017, CIBAC successfully led a Canadian exhibition delegation to Dongguan, Guangdong Province to participate in the 2017 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo.

In September 2017, CIBAC members attended the China (Changsha) International Food Fair as international buyers and successfully established links with the local food importers and exporters.

After Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce’s signing of the friendship agreement with CIBAC in Toronto during 2016, the Honorary Advisor of CIBAC, Mr. Alan Ho, City of Markham Councillor led CIBAC members to follow-up visit in September 2017 with Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Following the signing of the Letter of Intent with Xiangsanxie in 2016, the Honorary Advisor of CIBAC, Mr. Alan Ho, City of Markham Councillor, led CIBAC members to call on Mr. Chen Zhengfeng, Secretary-General of the Joint Secretariat of Xiangsanxie.

In September 2017, Honorary Advisor of CIBAC, Mr. Alan Ho, City of Markham Councillor led the delegation of CIBAC members visited Changsha, Hunan Province.

In September 2017, CIBAC visited Changsha, Hunan Province. Led by Li Xinqiu, the Deputy Director, Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce organized a tailor-made business matchmaking event for CIBAC members.

In September 2017, CIBAC participated the Hong Kong Belt and Road Summit with more than 2,600 representatives from the business elite around the world.

In August 2017, co-organized with the Mill Works Incubation centre in Sault Ste. Marie, CIBAC successfully delivered a business seminar to local SMEs.

CIBAC co-hosted a workshop with the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association ( CERBA ) in January 2017.

2016 Events

In November 2016, CIBAC visited Changsha in Hunan Province. One of the purposes of this trip was to sign with Xiangsanxie the agreement about the use of offshore office.

In September 2016, Zhong Xinlian, Vice Chairman of Changsha Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference, led a delegation of government officials to visit Markham.

CIBAC members conducted a ten-day business trip to China from the end of October to the beginning of November in 2016. They visited Guangdong, Hunan, and Hong Kong.

In July 2016, Ding Wen, the first vice president of Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce leading a 10-member delegation to visit Toronto, Canada.

2015 Events

In January 2015, the Changsha Education Delegation of Hunan Province was led by Rui Yingzi, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Changsha People’s Congress, to visit the Greater Toronto Area. Deng Yun, Deputy Director of the Changsha Education Bureau, accompanied her. The education delegation of Changsha City held talks and exchanged ideas with representatives from York Region School Board and deepened the understanding of the Canadian Education Industry.

In November 2015, representatives of the Chinese Investment and Business Alliance of Canada visited China during the China Trade Mission organized by the Greater Toronto Chinese Business Association. The business visits lasted two weeks and visited important markets in China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chongqing, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The delegation was led by Mayor of Markham, Mr. Frank Scarpitti and included members of the former Mayor of Mississauga, Ms. Hazel McCallion, several regional and city councillors from Markham, and representatives from the finance, manufacturing, education, environmental protection, trade and services industries.

On August 22, 2015, Johnny So, President of the Chinese Investment and Business Alliance of Canada, was invited to Changsha, Hunan Province to attend the first Global Top 100 Business Associations Innovation Forum. The leaders of 126 business associations form around the world gathered in Changsha to conduct of depth discussions on the operation mode of business associations, especially how to provide quality services to members, and share the results achieved.

2014 Events

To better understand Changsha’s folk culture, delegates visited Hunan University, formerly known as Yuelu Academy, one of the four academies in ancient China. The delegation also visited Hunan’s 5A Gold Medal Winner Farm: Green World Ecological Art Farm. This farm is a provincial demonstration project, which provides catering, conference, hotel and organic farming services.

In October 2014, CIBAC China delegation visited Changsha Municipality in Hunan Province. Changsha CPPCC Deputy Secretary-General, He Minglan, hosted a luncheon at Xianglu Mountain Villa to welcome the delegation. Director Xie Lihua, and Deputy Director Yi Hong also attended the luncheon. Secretary General of Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce, Rao Fuming, welcomed the delegation at Xinyiyuan.

In October 2014, CIBAC China delegation visited Changsha Municipality in Hunan Province. The delegation attended the meeting hosted by Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce at Wanda Mandarin Hotel. Both parties shared market information and cooperation opportunities.

In October 2014, CIBAC China delegation visited Changsha Municipality in Hunan Province. Representatives of Hunan Provincial High-tech Entrepreneurs Association, Changsha High-tech Entrepreneurs Association, and Changsha Association for Professional Managers ( collectively referred as “Xiangsanxie” ) warmly received the delegation and respectively signed Friendship Agreements with CIBAC.

Delegation visited Well-known Enterprises and Colleges in Changsha, and local enterprise Changsha Broad Homes Industrial Group Co., Ltd., Farsoon Technologies, a Chinese industrial-grade metal and nylon 3D printing leader, Changsha Commerce and Tourism College, which is known as the ” Cradle of Requirements for Managers”, and Meixi Lake project by China Overseas Property Limited.

CIBAC China delegation visited Changsha Municipality in Hunan Province. Rui Yingzi, Deputy Director of Changsha People’s Congress Standing Committee, Du Zhongta, Director of Changsha Foreign & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and Liu Fang, Vice Chairman of the Changsha People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, hosted a banquet at Changsha Tongcheng Hotel to warmly welcome the delegation.
